Our. apartment. was. dirty!

Seriously, I’m not a germaphobe, but I am a bit of a clean freak. However, since starting this blog a few days ago, I’ve pretty much been glued to my computer (and it’s hard to clean when you’re glued to a laptop). After breakfast, I dedicated the morning to getting this place in order!
(Alright, so I simply moved my clothes from the floor to the bed, but that’s because I have one more load of laundry to do and I want to put them all away in one shot.)
Aaahhh. Muuuch better!
Cleaning today worked out great because I had decided to take a day off from the gym anyway. I cranked up some music and scrubbed, wiped, straightened, and vacuumed for some cardio! (There may or may not have been a few intermittent dance parties in there, too.
)
Every time I clean my bedroom, I think about how it’s essentially a shrine dedicated to my best friend from high school, Ann. (Sidenote: Some people say it’s impossible to have more than one best friend. I disagree with this. Yes, I realize the word “best” implies one, but…whatever, I don’t care.
) Over the years, Ann has made and/or given me a lot of mementos of our friendship, three of which I display in my bedroom:

Hahaha. I love this last one. We were so young!
I will be friends with this girl my entire life. Our minds are so much alike sometimes, it’s scary. She lives in Indianapolis, which is 2 hours away, so I don’t get to see her much.
Miss you and love you, Ann!
Ann, Morgan, and Mi Madre (pictured here)
(I call my mom “Mi Madre” a lot. I’m not fluent in Spanish or anything…IDK??? That’s her name in my cell phone, too.) make up what I call my “support team.” I’ve had some really rough times in the past year, and these three have helped me so much and genuinely care about how I’m doing every day.
Just a little insight into the life of Cassie.

Now for some eats!
After I finished cleaning, I sat down to do some blog reading. I was over at KERF when I realized I was STARVING! I had that I’m-so-hungry-I-feel-sick thing going on. Needless to say, I whipped up some lunch quickly!
Grilled chez (anyone else call it that?) and a salad.
I like my grilled cheese sandwiches (and toast, and meat, and many other things) burnt!
The salad a little closer:
The sweet part/part 2 of lunch:
Mid-mix:
- Plain Oikos greek yogurt
- Honey
- Cascadian Farm Cinnamon Crunch
- Kashi Whole Grain Puffs
- Pecans (gotta get some healthy fat in for some staying power!)
Back to the “to do” list! But before I go, I want to know: Who do you consider to be your “support team”?

I’ve been reading your blogs and I would have to say “bravo” to you. You are doing a wonderful job! I had to laugh (out loud) when you said you sometimes speak Spanish. I laughed because I do the same thing. My students get confused sometimes because they think they are in Spanish, and not math, class. Similar to you, I have no explanation for it. It just comes out. I like to think it’s what makes me unique amongst the mathematics teachers! Anyway, your blog reminds me so much of a book I read (and loved) called How to be a SKinny Bitch (at least, I think that’s what it’s called). Anyway, I have resolved to becoming healthier in the upcoming year. I believe your blog will help me immensely. I struggle with finding delicious things to fix for meals that are still healthy. I also struggle with finding healthy things in stores here in the butt of Illinois that I call home. When your main supplier of groceries is Wal-Mart, it’s difficult finding ingredients. I hope you are doing well. You’re doing a great job! Keep it up!
Thanks so much for reading, Court! Ha I love that you speak Spanish, too! It’s like my brain just automatically translates sometimes. I hope the blog helps you with your resolution. I guess it’s kind of a resolution for me, too. This blog helps me as much (or more) as it helps others. I know what you mean about having limited options for groceries. When I come home for the holidays, I feel like a fish out of water because I’m so used to city life. I have such easy access to everything in Louisville, I sometimes forget not everyone has that luxury. I’m going to add “making healthy choices when your grocery options are limited” to my list of upcoming post topics. I think a lot of people could benefit from it! Hope you are doing well, too. I got some updates on Jackson yesterday – he sounds hilarious! Tell everyone I say “Hello” and that I love them!
